About the role#
The National Youth Advocate Program is looking for a Master's level intern to join our Behavioral Health team in Columbia, South Carolina. This internship provides hands-on experience working with youth and families. You will also have the chance to observe other therapeutic areas within the agency to gain a deeper understanding of the communities and clients we serve. This role requires close collaboration with youth, families, foster parents, and community partners.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual, group, and family mental health services.
- Manage cases and coordinate services for youth and families, including medical, educational, and social support.
- Travel to provide community-based services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Complete all required documentation and training on time.
- Review and modify youth-based plans to ensure progress toward goals.
- Assist with family reunification and stabilization efforts.
- Participate in weekly supervision sessions.
- Provide transportation services as needed.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
- Current enrollment in a Master of Social Work program where an internship or field placement is a degree requirement.
- Experience working in direct service with youth and families is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible and non-traditional hours.
- Capacity to remain objective and professional while being responsive to the needs of youth, caregivers, and partners.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and standard office software.
- A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
- Automobile insurance with a minimum bodily injury liability coverage of $100,000/$300,000.
