About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience with the foster care population in Columbia, South Carolina. You will work directly with youth, families, and foster parents while gaining exposure to various therapeutic areas within the agency. This is a full-time, unpaid position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the foster care team through daily case management.
- Engage with youth to conduct assessments and assist in developing treatment plans.
- Observe professional interventions and learn how to document services.
- Coordinate with caregivers, school staff, and mental health professionals.
- Travel daily to provide community-based support to youth and families.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work program at an accredited institution.
- An internship or field placement requirement from your university.
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, and office software like word processors and spreadsheets.
- A valid driver license, a good driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
- Automobile insurance with a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 in bodily injury liability coverage.
