About the role#
This co-op position offers students an introduction to the respiratory therapy field. You will practice entry-level skills and provide support to healthcare professionals in a clinical environment. This role is unpaid and intended for high school students enrolled in a healthcare-focused training track.
What you'll do#
- Assist licensed respiratory therapists in high-census and high-acuity patient areas under direct supervision.
- Help set up equipment including ventilators, oxygen systems, and high flow nasal cannulas.
- Perform disinfection and sterilization procedures following department policies.
- Manage inventory for both disposable and non-disposable supplies.
- Document operational checks and assist with preventive maintenance for equipment.
- Deliver supplies and equipment to patient care areas.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school healthcare-focused employment or training track.
- Ability to work under the supervision of licensed therapists.
- Commitment to professional standards and core competencies.
