The Student Athlete Tutor helps students in specific subject areas to promote academic achievement. You will help students understand course concepts, reinforce classroom instruction, and foster effective learning strategies. This role requires you to maintain a professional environment while adhering to institutional policies regarding academic integrity and confidentiality. This position supports the college mission by contributing to student success and retention.
What you'll do#
- Provide subject-specific tutoring to reinforce classroom instruction and improve student understanding.
- Help students develop effective study strategies, time management, and organizational skills.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and encourage self-assessment.
- Assist with writing assignments, proper citation, and use of academic resources.
- Connect students with appropriate academic support services when needed.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current student at NWCC.
- Strong communication skills.
- An interested, friendly, and patient attitude.
- Ability to support a facilitative, conversational, and inquiry-based approach to tutoring.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to be productive with minimal supervision and maintain a good attendance record.
