About the role#
This is a per diem Nursing Assistant position for students currently enrolled in a nursing program. You will work within our Medical Surgical department to provide direct patient care and support our nursing team. Weekend availability is required for this role. No certification is required to apply.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with daily activities, including eating, bathing, dressing, and using bedpans or urinals.
- Monitor patient health by checking vital signs, measuring height and weight, and performing intake and output tracking.
- Report patient observations, complaints, and treatment updates to the charge nurse or team leader.
- Facilitate patient comfort by providing fresh water, repositioning patients, and answering call lights promptly.
- Support the admission, transfer, and discharge process, including providing patient education.
- Collect and transport specimens and perform sugar and acetone urine testing.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols and identifying patients correctly.
- Complete assigned documentation and participate in unit-specific competencies and quality assurance programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral forms.
- Capability to lift, move, or push approximately 50 pounds with assistance.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and nursing practices is preferred.
- Current NYS Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred but not required.

- Compensation: $18.00 to $21.60 per hour, based on experience.
