About the role#
The Progressive Writer Intern contributes to the mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions. You will work within the Core Content Department to produce high-quality content that supports civil debate. This role is open to progressive writers, though the team also includes moderate and conservative contributors. You will cover topics such as governance, economics, infrastructure, healthcare, foreign policy, and social issues.
What you'll do#
- Create consistent content for the website as part of a team, including OpEds and policy proposals.
- Ensure that the commitment to nonpartisanship and ideological diversity is clear in all published work.
- Participate in podcasts, events, and other content-related tasks as needed.
- Attend mandatory weekly Core Content Department meetings on Fridays.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Political Science, Journalism, English, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing skills and proficient verbal communication.
- Experience in policy research or political commentary is preferred.
- Ability to work remotely, coordinate via Zoom and Slack, and meet deadlines.
- A writing sample is required for your application.

- This is a remote, unpaid internship based in Los Angeles, California.
- The role is full-time with a rolling term.
- You must be authorized to intern in the United States.
