About the role#
The PPL R&D department is hiring PhD Engineering students to support clean energy projects starting in May 2026. This internship focuses on areas such as wind and solar energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, carbon capture, and other decarbonization technologies. Interns will work part time during the school year and full time during the Summer 2026 semester. The position is on-site and may involve travel to various R&D project locations. All travel expenses are paid.
What you'll do#
- Plan and control all activities to maintain an accident-free workplace.
- Use engineering and scientific principles to plan projects, collect data, and perform analysis.
- Gather and correlate data using established procedures.
- Coordinate research project results and prepare summaries for management.
- Perform engineering assignments involving calculations, tests, and analysis.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest new methods.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum 3.00 GPA.
- Availability to work part time during the semester and full time during Summer 2026.
- Interest in renewable energy and decarbonization technologies.
