About the role#
The Information Security Intern role introduces aspiring professionals to the daily operations of a corporate security team. You will work alongside mentors to learn how security controls are managed and enhanced across the business. This position focuses on frontline duties, including event assessment and escalation to senior team members.
What you'll do#
- Support the daily activities of the cybersecurity team.
- Monitor dashboards and event logs, escalating issues to senior staff when necessary.
- Execute tasks such as analysis, investigation, reporting, and general system maintenance.
- Learn to manage tools and solutions used throughout the organization.
- Work with senior members to perform first-line threat assessment and response.
- Assist the security operations center and incident response teams with triage and troubleshooting.
- Read daily resources to stay current on security threats.
What you'll need#
- Working toward an undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Hands-on coursework experience with endpoint, network, vulnerability, forensic, and log management tools.
- Understanding of operating system configuration for Windows, Unix, and Linux.
- Knowledge of networking concepts like DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
- Ability to analyze event and incident logs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
