About the role#
As a Geotechnical Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced engineers to support design and construction for energy infrastructure projects like substations, transmission lines, and data centers. You will assist with site characterization, risk analysis, and foundation design. This role is primarily office-based, though you may have opportunities for occasional site visits.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing and executing geotechnical characterization programs and reports.
- Prepare foundation design drawings and specifications.
- Process and analyze geotechnical data.
- Develop design recommendations for shallow and deep foundations.
- Participate in cost estimates and project documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and construction managers to meet project goals.
- Conduct research and prepare reports or presentations.
- Attend team meetings to learn about design-build and engineer-procure-construct delivery methods.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor degree in civil engineering or a related field with a focus on structural design.
- Completed coursework in civil engineering fundamentals, such as geotechnical, structures, concrete, or steel.
- Familiarity with structural modeling software like LPILE, GROUP, or SHAFT.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others and take direction from senior engineers.

- Location: Spokane Valley, Washington.
- Type: Full-time, on-site internship.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Term: Rolling.
