About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support design and construction activities for energy infrastructure projects. These include substations, transmission lines, and data centers. You will assist with load development, code review, framing design, foundation design, and permitting support. This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities for occasional site visits.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing structural design drawings and specifications.
- Support framing and foundation design calculations under supervision.
- Coordinate structural member and connection design.
- Contribute to project construction plans.
- Participate in developing cost estimates and project documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and construction managers to ensure project goals are met.
- Perform basic research and prepare reports or presentations.
- Attend team meetings and learn about design-build and engineer-procure-construct delivery methods.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field with a focus on structural design.
- Completed coursework in civil engineering and structural fundamentals such as structures, concrete, and steel.
- Familiarity with structural modeling software like RISA or STAAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.

- Compensation: $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
