About the role#
As a Fluid Systems Intern, you will support the team responsible for all hardware between the tanks and the engine. You will contribute to solving problems that impact the Neutron rocket at varying levels of urgency. You will work closely with a mentor and other employees to apply engineering concepts to real challenges and grow your technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, test, and analyze critical hardware.
- Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real problems.
- Work alongside your mentor and other department staff.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors for feedback and progress updates.
- Participate in tech talks and professional networking events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
- Preferred: GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Preferred: 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred: Experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, propulsion, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, lathe machining, GD&T, or FEA.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
- Compensation: $28.00 USD per hour.
- Status: Paid internship.
