About the role#
Samtec is looking for a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry student to join our team as a Co-Op. You will work within the Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and the Materials Innovation Group. This role provides direct exposure to electroplating techniques, laboratory testing, and research into new plating methods.
What you'll do#
- Learn the Samtec electroplating process and troubleshoot line problems.
- Monitor and maintain electroplating baths using analytical procedures like UV-Vis and ICP-OES.
- Perform quality checks, including gold usage and porosity analyses.
- Investigate internal and customer-related quality issues.
- Record and update plating process parameters within our systems.
- Run electrochemical experiments and assist with R&D projects for new metal plating methodologies.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Bachelor degree program.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with a team and build professional relationships.
