About the role#
Samtec is hiring a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry student for a co-op position in New Albany, Indiana. You will work with the Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and the Materials Innovation Group. This role provides exposure to laboratory testing, electroplating techniques, and research into new plating methods.
What you'll do#
- Learn the Samtec electroplating process.
- Use UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor and maintain electroplating baths.
- Run post-plating quality checks like gold usage and porosity analyses.
- Investigate quality problems for internal and customer needs.
- Record and update process parameters using Samtec systems.
- Troubleshoot plating line issues.
- Assist with laboratory and process improvement projects.
- Conduct electrochemical experiments to support R&D for new metal plating methodologies.
- Keep the work environment clean and safe.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering bachelor program.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
