    About the role#

    This is a paid internship and co-op position for the Winter 2027 term. You will support the Scotiatrust Taxation Services unit in Hamilton, Ontario. The role is full-time at 37.5 hours per week and requires on-site attendance.

    What you'll do#

    • Prepare income tax returns by gathering and analyzing supporting documentation such as income statements, transactions, tax slips, and capital gains statements.
    • Discuss tax rules and elections with Tax Officers and managers to assess client situations.
    • Perform detailed tax analysis and conduct research to provide suggestions for specific courses of action in less complex situations.
    • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships.
    • Understand the bank's risk appetite and ensure all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience or knowledge of tax preparation programs, Salesforce, and the Broadridge Trust System.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to take initiative, work with minimal direction, and handle multiple tasks.
    • Strong writing skills and a clear focus on customer service.
