About the role#
This internship focuses on phosphate ore mining and the production of phosphate and ammonia-based fertilizers. You will work within the Mining and Manufacturing department at the Frontier Building in Pocatello. This role involves developing new products and processes while refining existing ones. The work is tailored to your specific degree path in either Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. This is a full-time position starting in January 2027, with a preference for a commitment of at least 8 months.
What you'll do#
- Apply basic engineering or chemistry principles to routine tasks under supervision.
- Use computer-assisted software and equipment to complete technical assignments.
- Assist with lab and pilot-scale testing, including both indoor and outdoor evaluations.
- Collect and prepare data for review.
- Help coordinate projects from the initial feasibility stage through final plan preparation.
- Provide general support to staff members and handle administrative duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage tasks efficiently.
