About the role#
The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind is hiring a Student Educational Services Aide to work in Springville. You will work under the supervision of an instructor for the blind and visually impaired to provide direct support to students. This role involves traveling between neighborhood schools to assist students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with additional needs.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one educational support and direct instruction to students.
- Prepare braille and tactile graphic materials for various academic levels.
- Teach contracted and uncontracted braille.
- Help students use low vision aids and classroom accommodations.
- Assist teachers, administrators, and parents to meet requirements set in the Individual Education Plan.
- Help students access classroom content using specific tools and technology.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in braille instruction.
- Knowledge of educational support methods for blind and visually impaired students.
- Ability to provide direct instruction without daily supervision.
- A valid way to travel between different school locations.
- Relevant coursework in Psychology, Communications, Public Health, or Sociology is preferred.
