About the role#
Superior Construction is hiring an HSE Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position supports the management and execution of construction projects with a focus on safety and compliance. You will spend approximately 80% of your time in the field and 20% in the office. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the implementation of project-specific HSE plans, safe work practices, and job hazard analyses.
- Perform at least one HSE work site inspection per week and document findings.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment and worker orientations.
- Conduct observations and audits for the Task Hazard Analysis Program.
- Support the investigation and documentation of health, safety, and environmental incidents.
- Help prepare and communicate project-specific emergency procedures.
- Report any safety or environmental infractions and monitor corrective measures.
- Assist with the development of statistical HSE information and project training.
- Attend project and department meetings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- A positive attitude toward learning and professional development.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain ethical conduct.
- A valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the site.
Location & details#
- Locations: Tampa, FL and Crystal River, FL.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Work Environment: You will work on heavy civil and highway construction sites. Expect exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and outdoor conditions including heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt.
