About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee Intern for Summer 2027 in Fort Collins, Colorado. This is a full-time, paid position designed for students seeking hands-on field experience in tree care and plant health. You will work as a member of a tree crew and gain exposure to professional arboriculture practices.
What you'll do#
- Perform tree pruning and removal services under supervision.
- Identify tree species and apply industry pruning guidelines.
- Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from tree canopies.
- Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Assist in the removal of hazardous trees.
- Maintain and operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
What you'll need#
- A love for working outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete company-provided First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses.
- A background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or experience working at heights is preferred.
- Relevant pesticide or related licenses are a plus.
