About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking interns for a field-based position in St. Louis, Missouri. This internship runs during the Winter and Summer of 2027. You will work 40 to 50 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday work. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
You will work in the field alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians. Your duties include:
- Pruning, removing, cabling, and bracing trees.
- Installing trees and landscapes.
- Operating equipment such as chainsaws and chippers.
- Performing plant health care tasks like deep root fertilization, soil care, and pest management.
- Learning business components, including sales, management, and client service.
- Completing the CDP C Climber/Trimmer and Plant Health Care Career Development Booklets.
What you'll need#
- Currently studying arboriculture, urban forestry, natural resources, horticulture, landscape design, forestry, or a related discipline.
- A valid driver license (a commercial driver license is a plus).
- Enthusiasm for arboriculture and a love for the outdoors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Location & details#
This position is located in St. Louis, Missouri. All necessary climbing gear, uniforms, and personal protective equipment are provided by the company.
