About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee for a summer internship. You will work in the field alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians. This role offers exposure to the daily operations of a residential tree care office, including client service, sales, and management fundamentals. You will work 40 to 50 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.
What you'll do#
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, and bracing.
- Handle tree and landscape installation.
- Operate equipment such as chainsaws and chippers safely.
- Manage plant health, including deep root fertilization, soil care, and pest management.
- Maintain the health and appearance of trees and landscapes.
- Provide service to clients in the field.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license. A commercial driver’s license is a plus.
- A positive attitude and a desire to learn.
- Ability to show up to work on time and regularly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Genuine interest in proper plant care and working outdoors.
