About the role#
As a Polysomnographic Student, you will work under the direct supervision of an RPSGT to support sleep center operations. This is a full-time position based in Martinsville, Virginia.
What you'll do#
- Review patient history and verify medical orders.
- Follow established sleep center protocols for all studies.
- Verify patient credentials upon arrival, collect necessary documentation, and obtain study consent.
- Orient patients to the testing procedure, whether they are undergoing in-center or out-of-center sleep testing.
- Select, calibrate, and adjust testing equipment to ensure proper function.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in or completion of a BRPT STAR program, AASM ASTEP program, or a Respiratory Care program with sleep diagnostic coursework.
- Current NBRC sleep endorsements.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage tasks effectively in a stressful environment.
