About the role#
The Social Media Specialist Intern supports the Communications team by creating content that highlights the programs, services, and community impact of the Africentric Personal Development Shop. This role focuses on building awareness and connecting families with available resources through culturally relevant storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Create and publish content across social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Produce reels, short-form videos, and graphics to promote behavioral health resources and community events.
- Attend programs and events to capture photo and video content.
- Use editing tools to turn long-form content into short-form videos.
- Write captions and assist with content planning and editorial calendars.
- Monitor social media analytics and suggest improvements to increase engagement.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to share success stories and organizational impact.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- A portfolio or examples of previous social media content.
- Ability to create engaging reels, graphics, and short-form videos.
- Knowledge of social media platforms, trends, algorithms, and content formats.
- Proficiency with tools such as Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Ohio.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 24 to December 11).
- Modality: On-site.
- This is an unpaid internship intended for students seeking college credit.
- The schedule is up to 40 hours per week, with some evening and weekend availability required for events.
