About the role#
The Social Media Specialist Intern works with the Communications team to build awareness for the African American Male Wellness Agency. You will create content that promotes our mission, programs, and community impact. This role involves producing trend-driven digital content to educate and motivate our audience while growing our national digital presence.
What you'll do#
- Create and publish content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Produce reels, short-form videos, and graphics to highlight initiatives like Black Men's Wellness Day and Uplift Her.
- Attend community events and health programs to capture photo and video footage.
- Use editing tools to turn long-form videos into short, engaging clips.
- Write captions, assist with content calendars, and manage audience engagement.
- Monitor social media analytics to suggest improvements for reach and participation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- A portfolio or examples of your previous social media work.
- Experience creating reels, graphics, and short-form video content.
- Familiarity with social media trends, algorithms, and content formats.
- Proficiency in tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail.

- Location: Columbus, Ohio.
- Modality: On-site.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
- Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week, with some evening and weekend availability required for events.
