    About the role#

    The Forestry Intern role provides hands-on experience in sustainable forest management. You will work alongside professional foresters, wildlife managers, and land management experts. This position is based in the field and focuses on timberland management, harvest planning, and operational decision-making across our forestlands in the Southeast.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist foresters with harvest planning, contract administration, and field inspections.
    • Participate in road layout, maintenance planning, and infrastructure assessments.
    • Support silvicultural activities such as site preparation, planting, and herbicide applications.
    • Assist with timber inventory, data collection, and GIS mapping projects.
    • Monitor and implement Forestry Best Management Practices to support land stewardship.
    • Work safely in various field conditions across active timberland operations.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a degree program for Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field.
    • Willingness to relocate to one of the internship sites for the summer.
    • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Locations: Thomasville, Tuscaloosa, Brent, and Gordo, Alabama; Statesboro, Fargo, and Suwanee, Georgia.
    • Compensation: This is a paid internship. Housing or a housing allowance is provided.
