About the role#
The Imaging Student Extern works within the X-Ray department to assist with patient screening, positioning, and imaging. You will work alongside a Radiology Technologist, the Radiology Team Leader, and radiologists to produce diagnostic images following department protocols. This is a part-time, contingent position with a rotating shift.
What you'll do#
- Screen patients for safety issues and verify information using two patient identifiers before exams.
- Perform exams using proper techniques based on the patient condition and requested order.
- Complete all patient documentation according to hospital policy.
- Maintain patient and hospital information confidentiality.
- Support department operations by reviewing schedules, managing supplies, and completing training for systems like PACS and RadNet.
- Demonstrate teamwork and maintain a positive, safe work environment.
- Engage in self-directed learning and participate in student education requirements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and current enrollment in the second year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to pass the ARRT (R) certification within 6 months of completing your program.
- Ability to commit to the role for a maximum of 18 months.
