About the role#
This internship offers a 10-week summer opportunity to support the Manufacturing Engineering team. You will work on process improvements for military and space-based applications, with a focus on automation and robotics integration. The role involves designing and improving manufacturing processes while monitoring performance to solve technical challenges.
What you'll do#
- Implement manufacturing process improvements and automation projects.
- Collaborate with mentors to identify and deploy best practices for process control and yield improvement.
- Create and update documentation including work instructions, training guides, and certification tests.
- Lead capital projects aimed at resolving production capacity and technology capability issues.
- Compare internal manufacturing practices against industry benchmarks and propose improvements.
- Participate in internal design reviews to ensure processing techniques meet customer needs.
- Provide weekly progress updates to the program coordinator and present project results to the local leadership team.
- Represent the company at a corporate trade show for executives and cross-functional leaders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, having completed your sophomore year.
- A minimum 3.0 grade point average.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Skills in project management, structured problem solving, and statistical experiment design.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- US citizenship and a background that allows for a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.
