About the role#
As a Finance Intern at Turner Construction Company, you will support our profit centers with essential financial services. You will work directly with our accounting team to manage project-related billing, accounts payable, and the monthly close process. This position is designed to help you apply your academic knowledge to real-world construction finance tasks while gaining professional experience in a team environment.
What you'll do#
- Support profit centers with financial services and general accounting functions.
- Assist with client billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable for vendors and subcontractors.
- Verify that lien waivers, contracts, and insurance requirements are in place.
- Help with the monthly close process by ensuring project costs and client bills are accurately recorded.
- Prepare owner applications for payment and compile necessary invoice backup.
- Facilitate data entry for vendor invoices and prepare multi-project invoices for distribution.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Provide administrative support for invoice processing, including vendor setup and tax reporting.
- Submit periodic progress reports to your supervisor.
- Participate in learning opportunities and conferences to better understand our business strategy and culture.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at a 4-year college or university, preferably majoring in Accounting or Finance.
- At least one year of education and a basic understanding of finance principles.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and general proficiency with MS Office and database tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage accurate information.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach to new projects.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work a standard work week.
Location & details#
- This internship is located on-site in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The term for this position is Fall 2026.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Please note that this role requires working at active construction sites, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions, loud noise, and moving mechanical parts.
