About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will work on construction projects or in an office setting to support our loss control and safety programs. You will report to a supervisor and assist with the day-to-day administration of safety protocols. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) program.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, specifically those involving imminent danger.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet company policies.
- Maintain safety records, including Job Hazard Analyses, training logs, OSHA 300 logs, and chemical inventory sheets.
- Assist with worker orientations and jobsite inspections.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited degree program in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Nursing, or Public Health.
- At least one year of completed college education.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- A strong interest in construction management.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Evidence of interpersonal skills through student leadership, volunteer work, or community involvement.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
