    About the role#

    Turning Point Community Programs offers an internship program designed to prepare students for careers in mental health and social services. This program provides experiential learning by integrating classroom theory with practical application in a professional setting. Interns receive structured, weekly clinical supervision to support their professional development throughout their placement.

    What you'll do#

    Interns engage in a variety of clinical and administrative tasks tailored to their level of experience. You will conduct intakes, manage cases, and support members with specialized clinical needs. Responsibilities include developing assessments and client plans. You will participate in group processes, starting as a co-facilitator and moving toward a facilitator role. You will also receive training in practice theories and interventions such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed practice. The role involves maintaining documentation and upholding federal and state regulations.

    What you'll need#

    We accept students from university programs in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Nursing, and Public Health. Candidates should demonstrate diversity competence through knowledge of treatment models and effective interventions. You must understand the ethical and legal responsibilities required in clinical practice. The ability to apply diagnostic criteria and research-based interventions is necessary. Strong communication skills are essential for participating in clinical supervision.

    Location & details#

    This is an on-site, unpaid, full-time internship with rolling availability. Placements are located in Rancho Cordova, Chico, Modesto, Stockton, Fairfield, Santa Rosa, and Grass Valley, California.
