About the role#
The California Privacy Protection Agency is hiring two Graduate Student Assistants to serve as research technologists. You will work with the Enforcement Division to support investigations and help attorneys understand the technical aspects of privacy law. This is a part-time, temporary position that remains open on a rolling basis. You must reside and perform all work within the state of California.
What you'll do#
- Develop tools, research methods, and inquiry techniques focused on privacy.
- Research business practices and the technologies that support them.
- Advise enforcement staff on technical issues regarding security and privacy.
- Analyze consumer complaints to identify trends or potential violations of California law.
- Assist attorneys in the Enforcement Division with investigations and enforcement actions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Access to a professional workspace.
Location & details#
- This role is fully remote.
- You must be a student currently attending classes at an accredited university.
- Work hours are flexible between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
