About the role#
The California Privacy Protection Agency is looking for two Graduate Student Assistants to join the Enforcement Division. You will support attorneys by researching privacy-related business practices and the technologies that drive them. This is a part-time, remote position ideal for students balancing academic work during the year and breaks.
What you'll do#
- Develop tools, research methods, and inquiry techniques focused on privacy.
- Research business practices and the underlying technology to understand their impact on consumers, workers, and businesses.
- Advise enforcement staff on technical issues regarding security and privacy.
- Analyze consumer complaints to spot trends and potential violations of California privacy law.
- Assist attorneys with investigations and identify new avenues for enforcement actions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program.
- A major in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Access to a professional workspace.
Location & details#
- This role is fully remote, but you must reside and perform all work within the state of California.
- You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
- Compensation ranges from $27.31 to $33.52 per hour.
- This is a temporary, non-benefited position.
