About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring three student assistants to join the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. You will work alongside experienced developers to maintain and improve internal applications. This role is designed for students who want to build foundational programming skills and gain experience in a real-world development environment.
What you'll do#
- Build or modify simple SQL queries, tables, and stored procedures with guidance.
- Help test and debug application features while documenting issues and fixes.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of web application features using .NET Core or Blazor.
- Use Azure DevOps for source control and participate in pull requests.
- Provide general support to the development team and learn assigned tools and technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- A declared major in Computer Science or Data Science.
- Basic understanding of C# and .NET Core or Blazor project structures.
- Basic SQL skills, including CRUD operations and simple joins.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps or other version control systems.
- Ability to read and follow coding standards and existing patterns in a codebase.
Location & details#
- Location: West Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.49 to $33.52 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible, Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM. Students generally work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
- Employment Type: Part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
