About the role#
The Public Employment Relations Board is hiring two student assistants to help with legal support functions. This role provides practical experience in law office administration and state government. You will develop skills relevant to future careers in public service and administrative support.
What you'll do#
- Maintain accurate case information in the electronic case management system.
- Carry out case initiation procedures, including adding case contacts and assigning cases to a Board agent.
- Prepare, proof, and serve legal communications.
- Calendar events and meetings using tools like Outlook and Zoom.
- Respond to or redirect external inquiries from constituents via phone, email, or in-person visits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least six-semester units or nine-quarter units for undergraduate students.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.95.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- An ability to quickly learn and use new software systems.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
- Majors in Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Anthropology, English, or Journalism.

- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling.
- Hours: Flexible shifts Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
