About the role#
The Office of Legislative Counsel is hiring a Student Assistant to join the Web Application Services team. You will work under the supervision of senior developers to support web services and maintain various websites within a Drupal environment. This is a part-time, temporary position that offers a hybrid work arrangement.
What you'll do#
- Build flexible, cross-browser compatible, and scalable web applications.
- Migrate and update legacy PHP code to the latest version.
- Develop and maintain APIs for data services.
- Perform technical analysis of proposed solutions to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Manage your work schedule to ensure project deliverables are completed on time.
- Troubleshoot information technology systems and perform related duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student taking at least six-semester units or nine-quarter units for undergraduates.
- A major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Communications.
- Demonstrable experience with PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with staff and the public.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Residency: You must reside in California and perform all work within the state.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Generally up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
