About the role#
The Institute for Social Research at Sacramento State is hiring 25 student assistants to join our research team as Telephone Interviewers. You will assist our data collection efforts by conducting surveys over the phone. This role involves using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing software to gather information from business owners, managers, and employees.
What you'll do#
- Conduct surveys with participants by telephone.
- Read survey scripts and accurately record responses into a computer.
- Follow data collection protocols and study instructions.
- Administer surveys with courtesy and professionalism.
- Participate in project-specific training sessions.
- Maintain communication with your supervisor and incorporate feedback.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sacramento State student.
- Minimum of six semester units for undergraduates or four semester units for graduate students.
- Clear, polite verbal communication skills over the telephone.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with a supervisor.
- Professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to commit to at least one four-hour shift per week.
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish and English, or experience with research and social sciences.
Location & details#
- Work is performed on-site at the Sac State Downtown Building at 304 S Street.
- This is a part-time, non-benefited position paying $19.00 to $21.00 per hour.
- You may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
- Schedules are flexible between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
