About the role#
The Design Engineer Intern supports the design, documentation, assembly, and testing of new solutions for our industry. You will assist with production, sales, service, and troubleshooting tasks while providing recommendations on structural components to meet design goals. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Piedmont, South Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Design and detail purchased items, machining, weld, and assembly prints using SolidWorks.
- Assist Engineering Technicians with building and testing prototypes.
- Analyze production issues and help develop solutions.
- Calculate unknown loading and directions based on data and assumptions.
- Develop bills of materials (BOM).
- Test design changes implemented by technicians.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture, or Electrical Engineering.
- High School diploma.
- Knowledge of FEA, hydraulics, electronics, statistics, and strength of materials.
- Ability to understand material strengths, fatigue strength, and manufacturability.
- Skill in identifying the root cause of defective parts or design issues.
- Capability to produce accurate, professional, and error-free documentation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Previous internship experience is a plus.
