About the role#
Wayne State University Physician Group is hiring a Social Work Intern to support our clinical teams. You will work under the direction of a licensed social worker to provide biopsychosocial assessments and treatment interventions. This role involves both individual and group clinical work.
What you'll do#
- Provide mental health and chemical dependency treatment, including assessments and clinical services.
- Coordinate patient referrals for substance abuse treatment, housing, and social services like Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, SSD, and work therapy.
- Develop individualized care plans and educate patients on their rights and treatment options.
- Maintain timely clinical documentation in accordance with clinic policies and accreditation standards.
- Participate in case conferences for supervision and contribute to quality management programs.
- Adhere to safety, accessibility, and infection control standards.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor of Social Work degree.
- Knowledge of addiction medicine principles and mental health clinical practices.
- Familiarity with community resources and local referral agencies.
- Strong interviewing skills to elicit information and build cooperation with patients.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and various service delivery modes is preferred.

- This position is located in Livonia, Michigan.
- This is an on-site, paid, part-time internship with a rolling term.
