About the role#
Wayne State University Physician Group is hiring a Social Work Intern to assist with patient care under the direction of a licensed social worker. This role involves providing clinical services and case management to help patients access essential support and treatment.
What you'll do#
- Provide mental health or chemical dependency treatment, assessments, and clinical services in individual or group formats.
- Coordinate patient referrals for substance abuse treatment, housing, and social services like Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, and SSD.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient clinical records to meet clinic and regulatory standards.
- Participate in case conferences to ensure proper supervision.
- Take part in the quality management program, including adherence to safety, accessibility, and infection control standards.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelors of Social Work.
- Knowledge of addiction medicine principles and mental health clinical practices.
- Familiarity with community resources and referral agencies.
- Skill in interviewing patients to gather information and build cooperation.
- Experience working with various patient populations in mental health or chemical dependency settings is preferred.
