About the role#
The Yield Trial Specialist Intern supports our research team with daily operations across labs, test sites, and nurseries. You will gain hands-on experience in corn breeding, seed production, and trial management. This is a full-time, paid summer position based in Geneseo, Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Assist with yield trial testing, pollinating, and detasseling activities.
- Collect and organize research data and field notes.
- Maintain and service both lab and field equipment.
- Support seed processing and nursery operations.
- Participate in field days, hybrid promotions, and other special projects.
- Collaborate with the research team and seasonal staff to learn about field operations and trial management.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate Sophomore or Junior status.
- Major in Agronomy, Plant Science, Crop Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in agriculture, production, research, or farming.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical fieldwork and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning and taking on new challenges.
