About the role#
As a Mechanical Intern in our nuclear division, you will support engineering and design tasks for power plant projects and upgrades. You will work under the guidance of senior engineering staff to evaluate plant conditions, perform calculations, and develop design changes that improve plant performance, safety, and reliability. This role requires managing multiple projects at once and following company policies and procedures.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering and design activities for power plant projects.
- Assist with calculations, modifications, and system designs.
- Collaborate with project teams to evaluate site conditions.
- Travel to client sites for field work, which includes performing equipment walk downs.
- Navigate industrial plant environments, including climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and accessing security-controlled areas.
What you'll need#
- A BS degree in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- A working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass security and drug screenings to maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship based in Stonington, Connecticut.
- The role involves a rolling term.
- Please note that overtime work is required at times.
