About the role#
As a Software Integration Intern, you will work at the intersection of robotics, embedded software, and systems engineering. Our team brings together planning, perception, and controls software to ensure our autonomous aircraft operate reliably in the real world. You will help test and integrate features, work with flight telemetry, and use simulation tools to validate software performance before it reaches the sky.
What you'll do#
- Analyze datasets from engineering systems, vehicle sensors, and other sources to identify patterns.
- Design clear charts and dashboards to communicate technical findings.
- Build and maintain real-time dashboards to track system performance and key metrics.
- Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and organization tasks.
- Write SQL queries to extract and work with data.
- Assist with the development and validation of machine learning models for autonomy applications.
- Develop small data pipelines, automate processes, and run engineering simulations.
- Build scripts and tools to improve team workflows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Python for scientific programming, including libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, or Plotly.
- A basic understanding of SQL.
- Coursework or experience in statistics, linear algebra, or numerical methods.
- Exposure to software development practices like version control with Git, debugging, and documentation.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts or frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Keras.
- Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a willingness to communicate findings to teammates.
- Bonus: Experience with robotics or automation, object-oriented programming (C++ or Java), or cloud services and big data tools.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
- The term runs during Summer 2027, from May or June through August or September.
- This position is paid at a starting rate of $54 per hour.
