About the role#
Aecon is hiring Engineering Co-op students for its Civil West division. These site-based positions offer hands-on experience with heavy civil projects, focusing on day-to-day construction management, resource allocation, scheduling, and cost control. This role is ideal for students looking to gain practical field experience while working under the guidance of experienced site teams.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and produce daily, weekly, or monthly reports for project staff.
- Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with daily operational tasks.
- Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
- Monitor project progress and assist with job cost reports and month-end reconciliations.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating engineering drawings and project documents.
- Gather field information to help prepare project bills of materials and construction estimates.
- Maintain project files and correspondence while collaborating with clients and internal departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university or technical college program for Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or Architecture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to flexible day or night shifts.
- Previous experience in the construction industry is a strong asset.
- Beginner knowledge of AutoCAD or Bluebeam is considered an asset.

- Location: Montreal, Quebec.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
- Term: Rolling (please specify your desired duration of 4, 8, or 12 months in your application).
