About the role#
The Anthropic Fellows Program provides funding and mentorship to support technical talent in conducting empirical research on AI systems. This workstream focuses on Economics and Policy, where fellows work on projects aligned with our research priorities. The program runs for four months on a full-time basis, offering a collaborative environment for researchers to develop public outputs such as paper submissions. Fellows receive direct mentorship from Anthropic researchers and access to compute resources for their projects.
What you'll do#
- Conduct empirical research on the economic effects of AI.
- Develop new methodological approaches to study AI impacts on labor markets.
- Analyze the offense-defense balance for AI-enabled cyber and bio capabilities as models scale.
- Measure model performance increases using custom harnesses.
- Identify market-driven mechanisms to improve societal resilience against threats from AI systems.
What you'll need#
- A strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.
- Fluency in Python programming.
- A strong background in a discipline relevant to the Economics and Policy workstream, such as economics or social sciences.
- Experience in research or engineering related to this workstream.
- Motivation to ensure AI is safe and beneficial for society.
- Ability to work full-time for the duration of the four-month program.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid program with shared workspaces available in California and London. Remote participation is also an option for those based in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.
- Applicants must possess independent, full-time work authorization in the US, Canada, or the UK. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this program.
- The program term begins in Fall 2026.
