About the role#
We are hiring a Student Worker for the West Range Cafe at UVA. This is a full-time, on-site role. We are looking for individuals who can work independently and provide consistent service to our customers.
What you'll do#
- Operate the register and POS system to handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Greet customers and assist with their needs.
- Prepare and serve coffees, teas, and specialty beverages according to brand standards.
- Prepare and serve food items.
- Organize and balance the cash drawer, complete cashier slips, and make deposits.
- Set up and break down the coffee bar and service stations.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including stocking coolers and condiments.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Basic math and counting skills.
- Ability to read and communicate in English.
- Capability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Completion of Food Handling Certification as required.
- Previous customer service, cash handling, or barista experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands like lifting, bending, and extended standing or walking.

- Compensation: $16.00 per hour.
