    About the role#

    The Wildlife Tech Intern works within the Solid Waste Division to support bird control and environmental monitoring at the landfill. This is a safety sensitive position where you will manage bird activity to prevent potential collisions with aircraft and track environmental conditions across the facility.

    What you'll do#

    • Deter bird activity at the landfill to prevent airborne collisions with aircraft.
    • Record all deterrent activities, including species identification and counts, in the Bird Control Events Log.
    • Conduct scheduled Biologist Surveys at seven specific locations throughout the day.
    • Detect, record, and report odor issues at the landfill and compost site.
    • Monitor and maintain the Bluebird Trail and other onsite nest boxes.
    • Assist with site tours and environmental events as needed.

    What you'll need#

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • A valid driver’s license in good standing.
    • Knowledge of bird species, their behavior, and local habitats.
    • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Availability to work weekends.
    • Strong observation and written communication skills for accurate data collection.

    • Location: Egg Harbor, New Jersey.
    • This is a full-time, paid internship.
    • Work is performed on-site.
    • This position has a rolling term.
