About the role#
This is a part-time, PRN Pharmacy Intern position based at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management. This role is intended for P1 pharmacy students.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and label medication orders to maintain an accurate delivery system.
- Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and other team members to support patient safety.
- Perform clerical tasks including billing and pharmacy inventory management.
- Collect patient medication histories and provide education to improve medication adherence.
- Maintain records required for accreditation compliance.
- Participate in interdepartmental work groups and committees.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medication calculations, regulations, and personal protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Pre-admitted or officially accepted into an accredited College of Pharmacy program is preferred.
- Pharmacy Tech in Training or Pharmacy Intern registration with the Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to communicate effectively and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform all position duties.

- Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This is a paid position.
