About the role#
This summer internship at the Dakota Gasification Company in Beulah, North Dakota, offers hands-on experience in environmental engineering. You will work with the Environmental Engineering Department on project-based assignments from May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027. This position is a paid, full-time role designed to give you exposure to cooperative operations and field practices.
What you'll do#
- Collect groundwater monitoring samples and other environmental specimens.
- Enter and analyze data from sampling results and various programs.
- Inspect Environmental Department facilities on a weekly or monthly schedule.
- Update and create reports using department drawings and records.
- Monitor facility compliance, including assisting with spill investigations and responses.
- Draft monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports.
- Learn about relevant environmental laws and regulations.
- Help with company functions like DGC Family Night and perform other assigned duties.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a four-year EAC/ABET-accredited engineering program, at least at the sophomore level.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet physical demands, which may include lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, working at heights, or exposure to chemicals and noise.
- Previous internship or relevant work experience is preferred, as is additional coursework or certifications in your field.
