About the role#
This internship provides engineering support to operations and maintenance teams at the Deer Creek Station. You will work under the direction of the Superintendent of South Dakota Operations to gain hands-on experience with cooperative practices and plant projects.
What you'll do#
- Create as-built system drawings and document updates.
- Review performance data from the process interface system.
- Draft scope of work descriptions for contractors.
- Support system monitoring and improvement projects.
- Assist with plant performance data trending and analysis.
- Help prepare for outage maintenance and modification projects.
- Gather field data and conduct research.
- Assist the Deer Creek Station Engineer with upcoming projects.
- Follow all safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an EAC/ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering program.
- Completion of your sophomore year or graduation within the last 12 months.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 60 pounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- A copy of your transcript attached to your application.
- Previous internship or relevant work experience is preferred.

- Location: Elkton, South Dakota.
- Term: Summer 2027, approximately May 17 through August 20.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $26.50 per hour.
- This is a full-time position.
