About the role#
Baylor University is hiring an Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Governance to lead student organization development, engagement initiatives, and leadership education within Student Activities. This role oversees the student organization event approval process, new organization chartering, and signature engagement initiatives. You will foster involvement opportunities that promote student belonging, leadership development, and organizational success. The position also involves supervising professional and graduate staff while contributing to the strategic advancement of the Student Engagement & Governance portfolio.
What you'll do#
- Provide leadership and oversight for the student organization experience, including policy implementation, risk management education, and organizational compliance.
- Manage the chartering process for new student organizations from initial inquiry through university recognition.
- Advise student leaders on governance structures, constitutions, sustainability planning, and organizational development.
- Develop and implement leadership development programs, officer training initiatives, and educational opportunities to strengthen student capacity.
- Coordinate and assess engagement initiatives that foster student involvement and growth.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of Late Night and other assigned engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with campus partners to connect students with organizations, resources, and leadership experiences.
- Supervise assigned professional and graduate staff, providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development.
- Contribute to departmental assessment, strategic planning, and process improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree.
- Three years of relevant work experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to comply with university policies and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
