About the role#
The Office Assistant provides administrative support to on-campus communities at Texana House. You act as a resource for residents, visitors, parents, and staff. This role contributes to the safety and security of the residential community by following visitation policies, verifying resident identity, and reporting concerns to hall staff. You are expected to uphold Campus Living and Learning customer service standards.
What you'll do#
- Monitor door security and alert staff to any issues.
- Provide administrative support to residents, including room access and equipment check-outs.
- Maintain accurate log books for maintenance, equipment, lost items, and registries.
- Greet visitors and provide general clerical support.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail and phone calls.
- Assist with document preparation, filing, and office records.
- Manage office supplies and keep common areas organized.
- Perform data entry, spreadsheet updates, and report preparation.
- Enforce Campus Living and Learning policies.
- Help residents communicate concerns to hall staff.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in typing.
- Ability to learn the computer program used for front desk functions.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work on a team.
- Sound judgment to handle needs or crises as they arise.
- Ability to provide customer service to a diverse population.
- Commitment to maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to comply with all University policies.
Location & details#
- Location: Texana House, Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Desk hours run from 7 am to 1 am daily, with exceptions for holidays and move-in periods.
- Employment Term: August 13, 2026, through May 15, 2027.
- Compensation: $8 per hour.
